Although winter here in Utah is off to a slow start, it seems more and more people are heading out into the backcountry. The snowpack in the mountains has been very unstable and avalanches are a real risk.

If you are strapping on your avy beacon and heading out into dangerous terrain, we wanted to remind you all that most beacons are only designed for use with alkaline batteries. Check your beacon manufacturer’s recommendations carefully.

The potential for RF interference with your beacon from our batteries means you should not use our batteries in your beacons. As much as we dream about the day when you don’t have to use single use batteries for your backcountry and side country adventures, the beacon + battery performance and your safety is far more important.
